The Pilalas family continues their ministry reaching U.S. military members and international young people stationed in Germany. Their recent update highlights both personal challenges and meaningful ministry opportunities at the start of the new year.
In January, Karen underwent surgery to remove a parathyroid adenoma in her neck. The surgery went well, and early tests showed her calcium and hormone levels already returning to normal. She is recovering well, though full healing and stabilization will take several months.
Despite this health challenge, ministry opportunities continued. The Pilalas family hosted a singles dinner, Bible devotion, and game night, bringing together military men and young adults from Germany and other countries. It was an encouraging time of fellowship and outreach to those who often live far from family.
In February, they said goodbye to one of their newest converts, Cole, who was relocating to another assignment. They are praying that he will find a strong church and continue growing in his faith.
The church also ministered to a grieving family who lost their baby the day before the due date. The congregation came alongside them with meals, support, and prayer. The young couple gave a powerful testimony of seeking comfort from the Lord by spending time in Scripture together during their loss.
Through these moments of outreach, discipleship, and care for hurting families, the Pilalas family continues to point people to Christ and serve the military community.
Pray for Karen’s continued recovery and full healing following her surgery.
Pray for Cole, a new believer who relocated, that he will find a strong church and continue discipleship.
Pray for the military men and international young people being reached through the singles ministry.
Pray for the family grieving the loss of their baby, that the Lord will continue to comfort and strengthen them.
Pray that Christ will remain the focus and preeminence in the Pilalas family’s ministry.
