Tim and Kim Melton are thankful for two successful weeks of summer camp in Japan. The first week brought 130 children, and Tim served as a speaker while Kim helped in the kitchen. They were especially encouraged when the daughter of Mr. A, a man who was previously saved and baptized through the ministry and now lives in Vietnam, returned to Japan to attend camp. The second week brought 50 missionary kids from across Japan, giving them an opportunity to build friendships and be challenged to use their abilities to serve the Lord.

The Meltons also experienced unusually heavy rain and serious flooding in Nagoya. On September 8, more than four inches of rain fell in just one hour, followed by several more hours of rain. Emergency warnings repeatedly came through their phones, public transportation stopped, and several church members were stranded. Thankfully, everyone was safe, and although water accumulated in the Meltons’ backyard, none of their buildings flooded. They are praising the Lord for His protection. 

A major need continues to be finding a larger building for the church. Their current facility is at full capacity, with a recent potluck leaving barely enough room to walk and some people having to eat outside. They are working with several realtors, including a Christian realtor who is especially interested in helping them find the right property. Although the cost is significant, the Meltons are trusting God to provide and are thankful that the current exchange rate gives donated U.S. dollars greater purchasing power in Japan.
