Trey and Karen Mayfield are thankful for their first six months of living and serving in Mexico. During this time, they have continued learning the culture, improving their Spanish, and serving at Abundant Grace Baptist Church in Mexico City. Their discipleship relationships are growing, and they are grateful for the opportunities God has given them to learn and prepare for future church planting. They also recently hosted their first missionary intern, and Trey completed the first semester of his doctoral program.
A major milestone came when the Mayfields took a vision trip to Ciudad Valles, San Luis Potosí, where they hope to plant their first church. Two Mexican families from Abundant Grace Baptist joined them on the trip and are considering becoming part of the future church-planting team. After six years of pursuing missions and preparing for this work, the Mayfields are excited to see their long-term goal of planting a church beginning to take shape.
Looking ahead, Trey and Karen are praying for God to clearly assemble the team that will eventually go with them to plant the church. They also want to continue strengthening their discipleship relationships and helping others understand the need for healthy churches in Mexico. In September, Trey’s parents will visit from Florida, and the Mayfields will also meet with other missionary families and mission-board leaders in Querétaro for a time of fellowship, encouragement, and refreshment.
Pray for God to keep Trey and Karen healthy.
