Mark and Emily Mariner are thankful for new opportunities to reach people with the Gospel through Clevia Baptist Church in Suriname. The church recently held a special eye clinic that provided free vision tests, eyeglasses, and reading glasses to more than 100 visitors. Most of those attending were recent immigrants from Cuba. Several have already returned for church services, and the Mariners are praying that these new relationships will provide opportunities to share the Gospel. 

The Mariners are also preparing to begin a weekly Bible study for Spanish speakers, building on contacts they have made in recent weeks. Another outreach is taking place in the remote interior of Suriname, where Mark recently attended an annual Bible conference for believers from indigenous villages. A new project is providing reading and distance glasses in these isolated communities, where access to medical and vision care is extremely limited. They were especially encouraged to see people using their new glasses to read their Bibles during church services.

The ministry is also beginning a Teen Bible Sponsorship program connected with its weekly children's Bible club. Ten faithful teenagers will receive their own teen study Bible and Bible study kit. Each package costs approximately $100 and is designed to encourage these young people to develop the habit of personally reading and studying God's Word.
