The Kerr family is thankful for what God is doing through Highlands Baptist Church in Livingstone, Zambia. During August, the church held its first missions emphasis month, focusing on the responsibility to reach their own community, Zambia, Africa, and the world with the Gospel. During midweek services, church members were taught practical ways to share the Gospel and invite others to church. The Kerrs have been especially encouraged to see members responding and becoming personally involved in outreach.
The church continues to experience both spiritual and numerical growth. One woman was so challenged by a message about purposeful outreach that she immediately began calling friends and encouraging them to come hear the Gospel. The month concluded with the baptism of one gentleman, and the church also recently enjoyed its first youth activity. The Kerrs are thankful to see God developing a greater burden for reaching others within the church.
Looking ahead, the family is preparing for furlough beginning in mid-April 2027. They plan to visit family, report to supporting churches, and raise additional support. This has become especially important because changes in the currency exchange have increased their living costs by approximately 30% over the past year. Despite these challenges, they are thankful for God’s provision and continue trusting Him as they serve and prepare for the coming furlough.
