Matt and Tiffany Herbster are thankful for a very busy summer of ministry in Hong Kong. Their four-day basketball camp reached 146 young people, with time set aside each day to share the good news of Jesus Christ. Their Hope in Action overnight camps also experienced their largest attendance yet, with 162 children at Primary Camp and 107 at Secondary Camp. Primary Camp filled every available bed and even had 70 children on a waiting list. They were especially encouraged to have former campers return this year to serve as counselors.

Island Baptist Church continues to grow, creating the welcome challenge of finding room for everyone who wants to attend. The Herbsters have also started Friday Night Focus to continue ministering to young people reached through the summer camps. About 15 attend each Friday, including many who are not part of the church. Other ministries include ladies’ and men’s Bible studies, Sunday school, children’s ministry, and regular Bible teaching. Matt has also been asked to coach the varsity boys basketball team at International Christian School, giving him another opportunity to build relationships and influence young people.

Many additional opportunities are ahead. Matt will speak four times to approximately 500 seventh- through ninth-grade students at an international school camp in November. In October, Matt and Tiffany will join family members for several days of training followed by a camp for around 150 people in a nearby country. Matt will also mentor first-year students at Hong Kong University for the fourth year. Through all these opportunities, the Herbsters remain focused on people—building relationships, strengthening Island Baptist Church, and looking for open doors to share biblical truth and the Gospel.
